In early 2020, news of the global pandemic brought uncertainty to organizations around the globe.
Looking back over the past year, I’m proud to say that Genetec has been able to quickly adapt and thrive amid the shifts we’ve seen across the world. We attribute this success to the community we surround ourselves with - from our in-house problem-solvers to forward-thinking customers, and innovative partners.
It has been amazing to see the power and use of science and technology to solve problems over the last year – both in our own business, around the world across industries, and, of course, in the medical field. It’s clear that when we work together, we can accomplish just about anything.
A year of innovation
At Genetec, the challenges of the past year provided many opportunities for us to find new ways to support both those on the front lines and those working behind the scenes to keep people safe. Our developers were able to update our existing tools so that they could be put to new uses. In my last post, I shared some of these solutions designed to help monitor occupancy levels, control access to personal protective equipment, monitor patients at a distance, and manage travel restrictions.
Working from home didn’t slow down development on Security Center 5.10 – a major update of our unified security platform – which we released in early April. I recommend you check out the new features available:
- Omnicast Cloud Storage, helping you migrate to the cloud at your own pace
- Security Center web client, giving you a unified experience from any computer
- Synergis Evacuation Assistant, which helps you manage and monitor emergency evacuations
- Updates to Genetec Mobile, allowing you to trigger Mission Control incidents from anywhere
See it in action:
Prioritizing support and product delivery for customers
With the current semi-conductor shortages worldwide, several industries (automotive, computers, gaming, etc.) are being affected and are struggling to keep their operations going as their supply chains are being impacted.
Here at Genetec, managing supply chain risk is a top priority—and it will continue to be for all of 2021—to limit any potential disruptions to our channel partners and user deployments. We are also very busy improving and digitizing our processes to make the transaction journey with our customers and partners more efficient and frictionless.
Getting back to in-person activities
We’re happy to see the positive changes that are starting to happen in the fight against COVID-19. In some areas, life is beginning to get back to normal thanks to the successful rollout of vaccinations which is allowing governments to reopen their economies.
As a global business, Genetec will continue to take a measured, regional approach to determine how to best serve customer needs. Our regional leadership teams are tracking government regulations to evaluate the best time to begin in-person engagements.
We’re excited to get out there and see everyone, but we need to continue to ensure the safety and well-being of our employees and customers.
The following activities are presently on plan:
Genetec attendance at ISC West July 2021 (booth # 10037)
Reopening our office in New Jersey in summer 2021
Genetec User Event - Fall 2021
London office reopening planned for summer 2021
The Middle East and Turkey:
Dubai office opening planned for summer 2021
Genetec attendance at Intersec KSA September 19 – 21
We have big plans for 2021 and local teams will continue to keep customers updated on where things stand. We need to remain vigilant and flexible to serve in what we know will continue to be an evolving situation across geographies, but we are optimistic and excited to look ahead to a time when we can be together again.
