What is a VMS?
A video management system (VMS) is a software that allows a user to
record and stream live videos from multiple cameras at the same time.
The VMS can run on a server or an NVR/DVR recorder.
Recorder-based systems record and stream video but typically do not
incorporate certain advanced capabilities like video analytics or access
control systems.
Server-based systems record and stream video, and also offer access
control, license plate recognition, analytics, dynamic maps and other
advanced modules and capabilities on the same server. They typically
offer more performance, scalability, and reliability.
