Camera On-premises Cloud Camera Local client Local storage Cloud evidence management Cloud-based VMS Storage We've seen that the camera is the hardware needed to capture images and record a video, but what is the next step? The video will be stored until needed for playback. There are three possible storage methods used in video surveillance: On-premises, Cloud-based, and Hybrid. Architecture Did you know? Genetec offers a Hybrid architecture that enables a mix of on-premises and cloud-based capabilities to be operated within the same deployment. This gives you the flexibility to combine both a local storage infrastructure with a cloud storage, or federate cloud-based video surveillance. You can also store and share all collected evidence within a secure cloud portal. Cloud storage An on-premises data solution is defined as a hardware system where the data is stored on a server. The information stored remains in the organization environment and can be retrieved at any moment from your own server. Unlike the on-premises method, the cloud is not physically accessible. It is an immense system of remote servers reachable from everywhere in the world. These numerous servers are virtually bound together to function as a single system.
