Large airports like London Heathrow and LAX
have a plane on a runway, on average, every 50
seconds.
Landings and departures are the most dangerous
phases of any flight, but aircraft landings and
departures currently go unrecorded.
A bad landing (not necessarily an accident) can
cause damage to the surface of a runway, leading
to extensive repairs.
