Genetec federation allows personnel at our Real Time Crime Center to review video in regard
to a 911 call for police service while patrol officers are responding lights and siren. The RTCC
personnel can look at the live video to see what is happening at the call for service and they
can access archived video to review what happened in the past. The RTCC personnel can
then notify the responding officers any important information before they arrive. This not only
expedites the investigation, it increase the safety of the responding officers
KCPD has many Genetec federations with private entities: Professional sport stadiums, high
end shopping districts and bar\restaurant districts. We also reverse federate with these
entities to share KCMO\KCPD cameras that are in\around their localities. These entities
have their own 24 hour private security or off duty KCPD officers and by reverse federating
cameras, it increases situational awareness and expedites public safety response to incidents.
While KCPD can review archived video from these private entities, by agreement, any video
we would need for evidence we would request that from the private entity. The federations
allow KCPD detectives to review video from their office to identify needed video segments
from a private entity. This allows detectives at different locations support detectives who are
at the crime scene.
We also have multiple federations to our government entities (Department of Transportation
highway cameras, national memorial sites, regional cities\counties police departments as
well as municipal parks and traffic systems. They access is used for multi-agency incidents:
car pursuits, weather events\traffic management, vehicular accident response and severe
weather management.
