Here are some interesting facts about Paris: — The city's "snail shell" layout came to be when the number of districts, or arrondissements, grew from 12 to 20. The 1st arrondissement starts at the center of Paris then spirals outwards clockwise. — Enjoy a croissant while you're here – there are almost 2,000 bakeries in Paris! — The Eiffel Tower, located in the 7th arrondissement was originally meant to be a temporary installation for the 1889 World Fair, but has remained standing ever since.
