What are the benefits of RTCCs? Support crime reduction RTCCs actively contribute to reducing crime by allowing operators to virtually respond to incidents in progress, proactively monitor troubled areas, and conduct in-depth post-incident investigations. Unlike after the incident debriefing, RTCC real time operators engage in proactive decision-making. A Chicago case study independently evaluated the impact of RTCC implementation and discovered it measurably reduced violent crime, in some cases reducing shootings and homicides by 40%. The RTCCs went beyond monitoring cameras and sensors, as they also served as a command, control, and communications center for personnel to gain awareness of what is happening and decide on responses. Reduce incident response times Gunshot detection technologies in RTCCs provide immediate awareness of the number and location of the shots fired, enabling prompt action. Real-time monitoring and awareness in high-crime areas help detect incidents faster. RTCC staff monitoring call-for-service quickly use nearby cameras to observe the scene and assist in directing responding units to the scene more efficiently. Crime prediction technologies and analyses of crime data aid in deploying personnel to high-risk areas, potentially reducing response times. 4
