Physical location checklist Bonus: Consider implementing a system to record the impact on crime using the RTCC, especially in cases where arrests wouldn't have been possible without its assistance. □ Does your RTCC have windows? The room should have no windows and limited access to ensure security and minimize distractions. □ Have you considered installing a video wall? Consider having large TV screens mounted at an optimal height to provide an unobstructed view for operators. Having cable TV access on these screens can give live news and weather updates during crisis events. □ Can command staff see each operator station from one place? Each operator station should be visible from a single operating point to enable command staff to maintain situational awareness and direct operations effectively. □ Do you have multiple monitors at each operator station? Opt for monitors or video walls with at least 1080p resolution to maximize display capabilities. As a default setup, one monitor should be dedicated to displaying a dynamic map while the other screen showcases live video feeds. □ Do you have a dedicated email address for requests? Consider establishing a dedicated general request or communication email address for streamlined communication. □ Can teams make direct and secure phone calls? Ensure outside phone lines and secure direct telephone communications are available within the RTCC. □ Does your RTCC have a police radio? For precise and efficient communication, equip your RTCC with a police radio and dedicated call signs for each operator station (e.g., "RTCC1", "RTCC1A", "RTCC1B") and efficient communication. □ Do you have daily operational briefings? Keep teams informed and share intelligence gathered across shifts and commands. This section outlines the recommended features of a state-of-the-art RTCC room. These suggestions represent best practices, but it's important to note that you can still achieve a successful RTCC without implementing all these items. 9
