Dynamic archive management Security Center's Archive Transfer feature provides organizations the ability to dynamically manage the location where video recordings are stored, providing system administrators the ability to copy video from one Archiver to another. Recordings can be transferred between Archivers at a local site, as well as between remote and federated locations. To manage the use of bandwidth, archive transfers can be configured to occur on a schedule or on-demand, allowing organizations to only transfer video when greater network capacity is available. In order to reduce storage used, transfers can also be limited to video of interest by filtering by events, including alarms, analytics, and motion. With the ability to transfer older recordings to less expensive storage equipment, users can also reduce their investment in hardware when long-term video retention is required. Key benefits Gain full control of where your video recordings are stored Reduce storage costs when maintaining long-term archives Secure video of interest in Archivers located off-site Optimize video search and investigation performance Archive Transfer Use cases Centralize remote site recordings To improve efficiency, organizations can centralize archives from distributed systems and conduct investigations from their head-end. To avoid impacting other applications on the network, video can be copied when network demand is low, or by limiting transfers to video of interest. Offload video from vehicles Video recorded on-board buses and trains can automatically be offloaded to central Archivers when connected to the network at wayside stations, without the need to manually transfer hard drives, and enabling remote operators to review recordings. Reduce storage costs To reduce the cost of retaining archives for long-term retention, organizations can transfer older recordings from high- performance Archivers to less expensive storage hardware. Administrators can also create offline backups of older recordings to optimize system performance. Transfer recordings at the edge The capacity to record and transfer video onboard cameras presents many benefits such as securing the video if the network connection is intermittent, and also offering more control over the way the video recording is transferred to the Archiver, as an alternative to continuous real-time streaming.
