Introducing the Genetec SV-32: Latest addition to the Genetec NVR family

SV-32

At the 2014 ISC West trade conference, held earlier this month in Las Vegas, Genetec unveiled the SV-32 network video recorder (NVR). This latest member of the Genetec SV appliance line received a great response on the show floor from integrators, end-users and technology partners.

Recently, the Genetec SV-16 has been getting a lot of attention in the press-calling out how the unit has been successfully deployed at retail and banking customers Starbucks and Credit Suisse. As many retail and banking organizations continue to transition their analog-based systems to IP, several have had a distinct preference for small-sized NVRs that can easily replace older digital video recorders (DVRs). The FederationTM feature architecture in Genetec Security Center further provides customers with distributed sites, common to large retailers and banks, the ability to centrally monitor cameras and related alarms across sites, while still maintaining autonomy for independent sites to manage local operations.

The SV-32 was the natural extension to our existing appliance offering, providing another hardware platform allowing integrators to easily deploy Security Center in smaller facilities. With the ability to decode video locally, the SV-32 provides our end-users with an all-in-one solution to view and store up to 32 cameras, without the need for a separate client workstation, making it an attractive proposition when deploying smaller systems.

The new Installer Assistant, designed to assist technicians when deploying smaller sites, will also come pre-installed on the SV-32, and will soon also become available with the SV-16 and SV-PRO. The Installer Assistant provides the ability to configure system-wide features during initial deployment, in addition to initiating the automatic discovery and configuration of network camera/encoder settings.

End-users and Genetec Channel Partners can expect to see the SV-32 shipping in June 2014, available in the Americas, Australia, Europe, and select countries in Asia.
