Open Network Video Interface Forum (ONVIF)
Security Industry Standards
Genetec's advanced security solutions have always been built as open architecture systems. This allows customers to optimize a combination of our solutions, choose their preferred brand of hardware or leverage previous hardware and infrastructure investments.
As extensions to the Genetec solution, the ONVIF interface is supported. This industry standardization protocol offers a generic way for partners to integrate with our advanced security solutions. Network industry standards are implemented to speed up integration in security applications and enable interoperability between systems regardless of manufacturer. Installers will be able to select best-of-breed solutions for specific applications, secure in the knowledge that the application can find the device and communicate with it over the network.
Open Network Video Interface Forum (ONVIF)
ONVIF is an open industry forum for the development of a global standard for the interface of network video products. It was officially incorporated as a non-profit corporation on November 25, 2008.
ONVIF is committed to the adoption of network video in the security market. The ONVIF specification will ensure interoperability between network video products regardless of manufacturer. The ONVIF specification defines a common protocol for the exchange of information between network video devices including automatic device discovery, video streaming and intelligence metadata.
